“RE-ENVISIONING LINDEN”: Linden Town Week welcomes 40+ tourism activities
The Linden Town Week, scheduled for novel tourist, experiential travel from April 23, 2023 to May 1, 2023 will be hosted under the theme, “Re-envisioning Linden”. Deputy Mayor of Linden, Mr. Wainwright Bethune, referred to these ten, riveting and fun-filled days as ‘all-inclusive,’ featuring a number of events including a hangout at Blue Lake, water acrobatics, and a bodybuilding show. Founder of the Linden Town Week, Mr. Norvell Fredericks, revelled in his success that nearly a generation ago, the proposed Linden Town Day was approved for celebration in the Visit Guyana year 1996. He expressed his enthusiasm at the growth of the event, now encapsulated in the national calendar of events as a prime tourism product towards residents and the diaspora. With the tremendous growth of the Linden Town Day to now, Linden Town Week, Mayor of Linden, Ms. Waneka Arrindell reflected on the transition of Linden from the ‘mining town’ to one that showcases the business, tourism and athletic dimensions of the region. According to Ms. Arrindell, ““We have been blessed with a vibrant council and residents who have pride in themselves, their culture, and their Town, and this coming year will be a celebration of many aspects of our togetherness and strength. As a result of our victory in sports, we have decided to theme Town Week 2023 in black and gold.”
