HerVenture: Treading the Roads to Growth and Finance
HerVenture, a novel, visionary mobile-learning app, is the flagship of the Cherie-Blair Foundation for Women, a UK-based entity which prides itself on availing economic opportunities manifested as entrepreneurial skills development within business continuity planning, digital marketing and e-commerce. In collaboration with ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc., ExxonMobil Foundation, GTT and MMG, the HerVenture mentorship programme, on Tuesday, hosted 42 women entrepreneurs at the Berbice Chamber of Commerce, New Amsterdam. President of the Chamber, Mr. Ryan Alexander, expressed his enthusiasm over the partnership of HerVenture with ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc. which offers entrepreneurial growth solutions, and corporate training in the form of business coaching. In this regard, Coach Premendra Parsan, ActionCOACH Guyana; Selena Bacchus, Programme Manager, HerVenture Guyana; and Leanne Baker, UK Senior Programme Manager, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women were anchors to the training session. During the course of the training session, Coach Premendra elaborated on the key attitudes for entrepreneurial success, and the foresighted perspective of financially independent lifestyles across the world for women in business. Thereon, Ms. Bacchus moderated an interactive session with the women entrepreneurs through which business networking techniques were engaged. Ms. Baker, whose oversight lies in the execution of HerVenture in Guyana and Nigeria, detailed the work of the Cherie Blair Foundation in their contribution to female-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The future of business mentorship in Guyana appears bright, with plans underway to link suitable mentors with women entrepreneurs. Among this vision, lies the HerVenture, the Road to Growth and Road to Finance training programmes under execution. With women’s leadership and entrepreneurship in ascension, HerVenture will supplement sustainable livelihoods in efforts to close the gender gap, and contribute to the diversification and growth of the Guyanese economy.
